Magyar Writer Krasznahorkai László Wins Nobel Prize in Literary Arts
The Hungarian writer has received the Nobel Prize in Literary Arts.
The Hungarian writer was recognised "for his compelling and forward-thinking body of work that, during end-times terror, reaffirms the might of art."
The author has produced five books and won countless further writing awards, for instance the 2015 International Booker Award, and the 2013 best rendered book prize in Narrative for his initial novel Satantango, a postmodern creation about the end of the world.
The writer is the second Magyar novelist to pick up the honor subsequent to the late Imre Kertesz, who won in the year 2002.
Brought into the world in 1954, Krasznahorkai obtained recognition in 1985 when he issued Satantango, which he adapted for the big screen in 1994.
This black-and-white drama, by Magyar director Tarr Bela, is famous for its seven-hour duration.
His other novels comprise:
- The Melancholy of Resistance (the late 80s)
- "War and War" (1999)
- "Seiobo There Below" (2008)
Nobel committee portrayed the writer as "an exceptional sweeping writer in the Central European custom that spans through Kafka to Thomas Bernhard, and is defined by absurdist themes and distorted extremity."
Krasznahorkai's 2021 book Herscht 07769 has been called as a significant modern German story, because of its exactness in depicting the country's communal upheaval prior to the COVID-19.
This is a representation of a contemporary hamlet in Thuringia, Germany, plagued by social lawlessness, murder and incendiarism.
"Kind giant Florian is an orphan, taken in by a neo-Nazi who has apprenticed him as a street art cleaner.
"His employer, a Bach enthusiast, is incensed that a person is applying wolf symbols across the memorials to the celebrated composer in their former GDR city."
A assessment remarked it as "therefore bleak from beginning to conclusion."
The writer's newest ironic novel, Zsömle Odavan, goes back to the Hungarian setting.
The main character is 91-year-old Józsi Kada, who has a confidential right to the monarchy but has made every effort to vanish from the world.
