Prince William will represent the COP30 climate summit in Brazil in the coming weeks, according to royal officials.

The father and son duo appeared together on Thursday evening at a gathering leading up to the environmental conference, which is planned for in the northern Brazilian city of Belém.

The King and Prince were in attendance at the museum gathering, marking an unusual joint appearance at a pre-COP30 gathering co-hosted by the United Kingdom administration.

Environmental Advocacy Dedication

King Charles has been a longstanding advocate of environmental conservation - and the Prince of Wales has taken on the baton, with his own Earthshot awards, which will be held in Brazil before the COP summit.

Official representatives have characterized the Prince's participation at the next COP as stepping up an crucial position in "climate diplomacy".

Previous Activities

The King and Prince of Wales, arriving together in the official car, were introduced to attendees such as conservation experts, scientists, climate change campaigners, diplomats and government officials.

This engagement involved presentations together with French leader Macron of the French Republic and other global statesmen at the Ocean Finance Summit in Monaco earlier this year.

Earthshot Awards Connection

The UN meeting will dovetail with the William's personal climate innovation prizes, which will wrap up in Rio de Janeiro the previous day he participates in the COP summit on 6 November.

Last week the royal figure characterized the Earthshot finalists as "heroes of our time".

Royal Climate Legacy

The monarch has been a key figure at past COP meetings, delivering the inaugural speech in the United Arab Emirates for COP28, including the reminder: "The Earth does not belong to us, we belong to the Earth".

"For decades I've committed a significant amount of my life trying to alert people to the critical dangers confronting humanity over climate change, climate change and biodiversity loss," the King told delegates.
