Top Diplomat Briefly Halts Trump with Handwritten Note on Gaza Peace Deal

A urgent handwritten note passed to the President by his top diplomat, Marco Rubio, indicated that an announcement regarding a ceasefire deal in Gaza could be made imminently.

Captured in a photograph, the note's text urged the president to approve a message on his Truth Social network to announce the news first.

"Nearly there," the note read, as shown in the photo. "We need you to approve a Truth Social post soon so you can announce deal first."

Not long after the note was seen, Trump posted on his Truth Social network, stating he was "very proud" to reveal the initial stage of the deal.

"This means that ALL of the Hostages will be released very soon, and Israel will pull back their Troops to an mutually accepted line as the first steps toward a Robust, Durable, and Enduring Peace," he stated.

The Moment the Note Was Handed to Trump

Trump was conducting a discussion with right-leaning commentators about antifa when Rubio, positioned in the back corner of the White House's state room, caught his eye.

He wanted to share an update for Trump, he explained, but it would have to wait until after the media left. Then, Rubio passed the president the message.

"I just received a note by the secretary of state saying that we're nearing completion to a deal on the Middle East, and they're gonna need me soon," Trump announced. "So we'll take a couple of more questions."

Background of the Negotiations

The event had already been underway for more than an hour when Rubio came forward. The president welcomed him to come in, and Rubio whispered something to Trump before giving him the note.

The note's urgent tone came as Trump's key regional advisor, Steve Witkoff, Qatari PM Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani and other senior officials joined a third day of negotiations between Israel and Hamas at an Red Sea location – a indication that negotiators aim to dive deeply into the toughest issues of a American proposal to halt hostilities in Gaza.

Trump's Comments on Overseas Trip

Trump had kicked off the gathering by informing the press that he intended to travel to the Middle East "near the conclusion of the week" and could even "visit multiple locations" in the region to Egypt and perhaps Gaza as US negotiators closed in on a deal.

Nevertheless, even after Rubio passed Trump the note, Trump kept speaking to the influencers and respond to queries from the media as the secretary of state became visibly anxious.

Concluding the Event

Nearly 10 minutes after his earlier statement about leaving, Trump declared: "I must leave now to try and solve some problems in the Middle East – although I'm very well represented by our secretary of state. He could likely do an even better job than me, but who knows."

"We wish to avoid to take any chances. So we're going to go and do that," Trump continued.

He then suggested that Pam Bondi and Kristi Noem remain and answer inquiries in his absence. However, Trump continued to take questions before the event concluded without administration officials staying.

"We're gonna get peace in the Middle East," Trump wrapped by saying. "That's what we want to do."
